Since the concept of virtual instruments emerged, sound has been liberated at a really fast pace. It has become relatively easy to create sounds that go beyond conventional wisdom, such as adding a lot of reverberation to the unique pounding sound of violin pizzicato. Implementing it in the traditional way would have required creating a new instrument or additional devices to implement the sound. So, from a sound perspective, it can be said that the emergence of virtual instruments served as an opportunity to pursue more unconventional attempts.
In this way, instrumentalists are specialists and electronic musicians are active as generalists, consolidating their respective fields. And the compilation album [Who made this? vol.1], released through Dnof’s project How to Use, brings together gem musicians from the Korean electronic music scene and compiles them into an album.
